The Gentlemen's Retreat

July 26 - 28, 2018 Hosted at Salve Regina University

Young men, sophomores juniors, and seniors at St. Raymond’s High School in the Bronx, will have a true Gentlemen’s experience. Through activity-based learning and guest lectures, these young men will be exposed to new competencies of emotional, conversational and story intelligence, and meet people who are experts in their field from multiple walks of life including business, finance, academia, law, and the arts. They’ll be staying in Newport, Rhode Island and will enjoy a special dinner at Hemenway's. These young men will leave Providence with a newly expanded vision of the world, and a version of success on new terms,  the Gentlemen’s terms.

2016 and 2017 Retreat Highlights

Launch Day with Coach Cooley

To kickoff off the Gentlemen’s Retreat, Providence College basketball coach Ed Cooley addressed the young men on the PC campus. Throughout the weekend retreat, top leaders from the business and academic worlds joined the young men from the Bronx for panel discussions and workshops focused on emotional and conversational intelligence.

"You can scour the country and find plenty of hometown success stories of coaches coming back to their alma maters or the places where they grew up. But there will be few that can match the authenticity of Cooley and Providence.
He is a product of the city. Cooley was one of nine children in a family of a mother on welfare. She did what she could, but clearly Cooley felt even before he was 10 years old that he needed to seek help."
- Andy Katz, ESPN Senior Writer
